Forum > Car Care

Hello Nevada County, and welcome to my new Car Care blog on the New Family Post’s website! I would like to take the time to introduce myself, give you a little background information and explain what future editions of this blog will entail.

My name is Jeff Peterson, and I was born and raised in Nevada City, as was my father and his father too. My great grandfather came here as a boy from Denmark to work in and eventually own the North Bloomfield Hotel. For as long as I can remember I have had an insatiable interest in all things automotive, passed down from my father and grandfather. I assembled my first manual transmission when I was only nine years old while helping my father work on a 1939 Chevy coupe, which he would later give to me as my first car. I now own cars ranging from a 1903 Oldsmobile all the way to modern Detroit muscle. I attended college in Sacramento and went on to work in Concord, Ca for ten years as a robotics designer. I now live in Grass Valley, with my seven year old daughter and two dogs, and work for a local Civil Engineering firm.

I am currently searching for a location and launching my own business that will cater to the local hot rod community. We will offer full show quality custom paint and body work, such as channeling, suicide doors, handle shaving, custom air suspension and in the future, complete frame-off custom builds.

The purpose of this blog will be to help educate our community on how to properly care for and maintain our vehicles, which will result in increased resale value, better gas mileage and peace of mind knowing that there are so many things that we can do ourselves, rather than paying someone else to do it for us.

I will write about a different topic with each post and will field as many questions as I can. My goal is to provide you with information and help you achieve your own goals, and in the process, hopefully better this amazing community we are so fortunate to live in.

Until next time,

Jeff Peterson
