Hummus: A Nutritious After School Snack

Hummus makes a great after-school snack. It has lots of protein and calcium without any cholesterol or saturated fat. Hummus is high in fiber and its garbanzos can act as a pick-me-up by helping to replenish iron stores. When you eat hummus with fresh vegetables, the nutrition content of your meal increases.
My first experience with hummus was at a wonderful Armenian restaurant run by a delightful woman named Salpy. I had never tasted anything like it before.
