Plays Well with Others

Plays well with others’ is a regular column that describes the various ways SNCS collaborates with other organizations. Collaboration is another way of saying teamwork, partnership, or a group effort.  However, the best definition we have read for collaboration is doing together what we cannot achieve separately. As an organization firmly rooted in child development, we prefer to say that we play well with others.

Sierra Nevada Children’s Services and the Department of Social Services in a successful collaboration are helping families to access valuable prevention programs such as the Differential Response Program and the In Home Parenting Program which have successfully engaged 45 families over the past year.  Highlights include connecting families to housing, food, and home safety resources, as well as providing Healthy Families insurance, family maintenance plans and mental health referrals. By actively engaging the family as a whole we connect families to the community resources and  support they need to make important changes in their lives. At the Family Resource Center we provide workshops and programs to meet the needs of families today. It takes a village to raise a child and we are here to help.
